EDUCATION
and MORALITY
Education is very significant to
create the good morality, the higher of education the highest of morality. The
people who have high education will influence to their morality, because
education is an effort awareness to be adult. If education doesn’t make people
to be better so we have to reflect about the educational system. Educational
system of Indonesia for example, in a formal education the most insisted is the
intellectual competence until the formal education creates cognitivist and
materialist.
Materialist are very dangerous in
social life, because they only think themselves without paying attention in
their environment. Corruption, collusion and nepotism most of are done by the
people who have high education, it is because the educational system in
Indonesia wrong, If it is not changed right now those are will increase
annually, wrong the writer means here is the way to measure the competence of
the students. Parents, teachers and even government only measure the
intellectual competence, such as in national examination. If it is just being
measurement for passing in national exam the immorality or worse attitude
cannot be reduced, because the school which teaches them to be like that.
Many parents are angry if their
children get low grades in their lesson although the assignments did by their
children honestly; even they have their children to cheat for having high grade.
For the example above, indirectly the children are taught be cheaters and
immorality. Therefore to create good education and morality parents, teacher
and government have to look for another way as measurement in measuring the
children’s competence.
Today, the government applies
educational-character in formal school in the hope that learners’ character or
morality can be better. The writer really agrees with the government about the
decision. Syllabi, lesson plan today have characters-grade and apply for each
school in Indonesia, but it is not enough if only being implementation. The
most important to create the education and morality, in my point of view there
are three things that must be considered namely:
1.
Spiritual competence
2.
Emotional competence
3.
Intellectual competence
if those are being measurements to the
students I am sure that immorality, such as corruption, collusion and nepotism
can be omitted in our beloved country.
